COMMISSION FOR AFRICA
GUIDELINES

General

The site will be moderated by Felicity Proctor, the Process Co-ordinator for the on-going Agriculture Consultation with technical back-up from the same support team.

Messages will go to the archive site unedited. The exceptions are:

  • Email addresses will be removed and replaced by the text "<address removed>" to prevent them being "harvested" from the site by spammers.
  • If you send messages in HTML format (but please try not to!), they will appear in plain text on the web site.
  • Entire messages may be removed from the web site by the moderator if they are considered inappropriate i.e. offensive.

Readers of the archive will know the email name of the contributor, and any other personal information included in the message such as that in a ‘signature’ appended to it.

The site moderator retains final responsibility for removal of inappropriate material.

How to send a contribution

To contribute to the Commission for Africa’s call for suggestions on natural resources, agriculture, food security and the environment, both key issues and the process, please send your email to commission-for-africa@kingfisher.gre.ac.uk.

Please note that you do not need to be registered to any of the DFID consultation themes to make a contribution to this call. Just send in an email.

Please note that this e-mail address will close on the 29 May after this call for comments completes.

Things you should do

Send your messages as plain text. Do not use HTML or rich text.

Pick a good subject line for your message.

Be courteous.

Respect other people’s opinions.

Spell-check and re-read your messages before posting them.

Remove any personal information from your messages e.g. address and telephone numbers if you do not wish them posted on the site.

Things you shouldn't do

Don’t promote yourself, your company, or your organisation. The moderator might remove such messages from the web archive.

Don’t send attachments. These will be removed automatically before the message is posted.

Don't send a test message.

Possible problems

If you send a message and it doesn't appear:

  1. Wait for a while, because it may be that the server is busy. If your message hasn't appeared after 48 hours, try resending it.
  2. If nothing seems to work, send email to contech@gre.ac.uk explaining the problem.
