peri-urban livestock production

Dear colleagues,

I am an IPM specialist working for ICIPE in the Technology Transfer Unit. I
have been following the discussions. I have done limited research work in
peri-urban agriculture that involved integration of crops (vegetables)
production and livestock in some parts of East Africa. I would like to
inform my colleagues from India that this is a booming business in Nairobi,
Dar, Arusha, Kampala etc ( the East African bloc that I know relatively
well) and there has not been any conflict. Zero grazing is predominant and
so the livestock are not allowed to roam freely as in India. May be India
could borrow a leaf from this part of the world
