I can not agree more with the concern Paul Mundy expressed about information getting tied up in journal publications aimed more at the peer group than intended beneficiaries. I would contend that for advisors, in contrast to scientists, the end product can not be limited to the development of knowledge but must continue to assure the knowledge is fully utilized. This means understanding and tapping into the information flow within a country or project. This flow is normally more oral and informal than via written reports. Unfortunately too often project like to self-evaluate on the size of their book shelf. Regrettable the book shelf is rarely read by the host clients let alone the beneficiaries.
