Ensuring that clients benefit from agricultural research - Supportive Response

I can not agree more with the concern Paul Mundy expressed about information
getting tied up in journal publications aimed more at the peer group than
intended beneficiaries.

I would contend that for advisors, in contrast to scientists, the end
product can not be limited to the development of knowledge but must continue
to assure the knowledge is fully utilized.

This means understanding and tapping into the information flow within a
country or project. This flow is normally more oral and informal than via
written reports.

Unfortunately too often project like to self-evaluate on the size of their
book shelf. Regrettable the book shelf is rarely read by the host clients
let alone the beneficiaries.

Something to think about.
