Just a wild thought. For those insisting on direct contact extension, how much is direct contact needed more for supervising the farmers rather then simply informing them? Also, how far off will farmers' management of timing, plant population, fertilizer use, weed management from recommendations if left to themself compared to extensive direct contract? How much will this impact on yield and quality when quality is a concern? Woud anyone venture a quantitive evaluation?
